Cortona

Cortona is a town  in the province of Arezzo, in Tuscany, Italy.
It is the main cultural and artistic center of the Val di Chiana.

The surface of the municipality is the fourth largest in Tuscany (excluding the second provincial capitals) and the 29th in Italy.

And 'it situated in the south of the province of Arezzo and in the south region of Tuscany, on the border with Umbria and Lake Trasimeno.

Originally an Umbrian city, it was conquered and enlarged by the Etruscans, who called it Curtun. During the 7th century BC, it joined the Etruscan League.
